Lucknow: In a significant success under the Mission Shakti campaign, Lucknow police prioritized the safety of women and minor girls by apprehending a suspect within 24 hours of a complaint. The Gomtinagar Vistar police arrested 21-year-old Deepak Rawat, who had allegedly harassed a 15-year-old girl, followed her, and threatened her life.
The case came to light when the victim’s mother filed a written complaint at Gomtinagar Vistar police station on October 3, detailing the persistent harassment and life threats faced by her daughter. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 74/78/351(3) BNS and Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act, reflecting the seriousness of the allegations. The operation was closely supervised by the Lucknow Police Commissioner, the Joint Police Commissioner, and officers of the Eastern Zone.
With assistance from the Mission Shakti Center, a female sub-inspector and police team quickly traced the accused to Makdumpur area, where he was apprehended around 2:30 PM on October 4. The suspect was immediately presented before the court for further legal proceedings.

The swift arrest not only brought relief to the victim and her family but also reinforced the Mission Shakti campaign’s commitment to safeguarding women and children. Lucknow police emphasized that any complaint involving harassment or threats to women and minors will receive prompt action, ensuring a safe environment across the city.
As part of Mission Shakti Phase 5, police teams continue to actively pursue offenders, sending a clear message that safety of women and girls is a top priority and that rapid law enforcement will be enforced in all such cases.
